What Is An "Authority" Site?

Some websites are already authority sites, but since they have not undergone search engine optimization they are not recognized by the search engines as such. A fairly comprehensible authority site rendering was put forward by Jason Dowdell of Global Promoter. Jason defined it this way: "authority locales are sites that have been linked to and referenced on other web sites toping the very provisional matter and they also will have hundreds if not thousands of pages covering that subject matter and pretty near every facet of it."

That definition is one man's opinion, albeit a good one, but let us go straight off to the source. Many search mechanism optimization and search engine marketing experts believe Google has derived their primary algorithm from a instrument titled, "Hilltop: A Search Engine based on Expert Documents." "In such cases the links presence considered have to be carefully chosen to assure that their trial line matches the query. By combining correlated out-links from many experts on the query motive we can find the pages that are most highly heeded by the community of pages enmeshed to the query point. This is the basis of the high relevance that our bonanza delivers."

On most search engines, for the highly competitive, high traffic keywords, you will notice that generally the top 10 results are loaded with authority sites. Authority sites generally have more content and more pages than other sites. They also have links from other authority sites to your site will help establish your site as an authority site as well.
